Livable Urban Waterways by Deltares

This workshop is intended as a knowledge exchange workshop on new ideas and best practices on the concept of liveable urban waterways (LUW). The purpose is to organise a series of exploratory sessions discussing how a framework for LUW could look like for the city, exploring the connection with the water sensitive cities concept and identifying options for interventions applicable to the rivers and channels in the water system of Cape Town.

Developing Innovative Water Solutions through the Water Hub

A workshop exploring updates on the WaterHub established by the Western Cape Government and the University of Cape Town. The Water Hub has taken inspiration from the Water Alliance (Wetsus Campus) location in Leeuwarden and other similar water focused hubs in the Netherlands. The water challenges in South Africa require an approach and process to support innovative, emerging and effective technologies. On a former waste water treatment plant in Franschhoek, a living labs center for demonstration and training facilities is being developed. The center aims to contribute to the objective of the Water Hub, so technologies can be validated, tested, adjusted with support from students who will learn about the most recent technological developments. Apart from technology demonstration and piloting, focus will also be on business development and business acceleration models of water based technologies into the South African and African markets.

Lights, Camera, Action!

Workshop is premised on understanding the outputs thus far of the Bilateral Audio-Visual Coproduction Treaty, as well as an exploration into the opportunities in the SA and NL market through leveraging the treaty
