ABOUT

Olga Schoeman plays Bach

What would be a better accompaniment to some quiet Good Friday reflection than Bach played on the harp?

Our superb, Garden Route-based harpist, Olga Schoeman will be performing a 40min Bach programme this Good Friday at Bosky Dell – be there! The programme will feature Bach works written for solo violin and transcribed/adapted by French harpist and composer, Marcel Grandjany with the exception of the Siciliano that was transcribed by Schoeman.

Olga Schoeman began her musical career at the age of 5. She went on to earn three licentiates from the University of the Witwatersrand in piano and harp. She performed as orchestral harpist in the SABC Junior Orchestra, the National SABC Orchestra and the Eastern Cape Philharmonic Orchestra. Her solo career has included performances all over South Africa and neighbouring countries, and South America, though solo work was not her focus. Schoeman says her interest in and passion for solo work was revived in 2021. Of this programme, “ …well-played, excellent combination of skill, technique, intellect, playfulness and emotion”.
