The False Bay Folk team are thrilled to present another local show on the first Tuesday of the month. For the month of August we have two exceptional South African acts that are no stranger to the False Bay Folk Stage - Caroline Blundell and Jenny & James. Book now to be apart of another wonderful musical evening, on the 6th of August 2024.


CAROLINE BLUNDELL


Caroline, (eldest daughter of the legendary entertainer and folk musician Keith Blundell), discovered the guitar at the age of 11 and has never looked back. Her professional music career spans over 40 years - singing, song-writing, performing, and also teaching guitar, ukelele and banjo. 


Caroline has a pure voice that moves the soul, and her beautiful melodies and stories in song are a varied reflection of her journey through life. Since the 1980's she has performed regularly in Folk Music Festivals, and at various popular acoustic music venues in the Cape, including the Barleycorn of course!

 Caroline also plays with her brother and sister (Julie and Jonny Blundell) as the band FINTRY. 


She released her first album of original songs, Flying Visits, in 2012 and her second one, Telling Tales, in 2017, both of which are beautifully recorded, (which you can find on iTunes and Spotify), and copies will be on sale at her live performances.

JENNY & JAMES


Original Folk duo ‘Jenny & James’ from Cape Town South Africa are two parts of the original ‘Jenny and the Jameses trio’. With a fresh new sound Jennifer Eaves ( guitar & vocals) and James Hall ( fiddle & vocals) weave together new material inspired by their love for folk music, story telling, and Celtic music. Jenny & James have been performing together for the past 9 years in and around South Africa, and more recently have enjoyed performing in the Netherlands & Scotland. 

Performing a mixture of original folk music combined with Celtic tunes, this duo crafts a show that takes the listener on a journey through heart felt lyrics, rich harmonies & foot tapping reels. 


Jenny & James have performed in venues large and small all around South Africa, including festivals such as the Cape Town Folk and Acoustic Festival, White Mountain festival, Barleycorn Festivals, Voorkamer Festival, Taste of Darling Festival, opened for Johnny Clegg on the Holland leg of his world tour, and were invited to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2019.
