Objective


Strengthen your skills to design, deliver, collect evidence and use data and enhance your organization’s contribution to meaningful social change.

Get an orientation of how design, monitoring, evaluation and learning (PMEL) can build learning organizations, and contribute to social justice.


This is course is for you if you want to upskill as an MEL practitioner or enhance your organisation’s ability to improve monitoring and evaluation


Content

This foundation course introduces participants to the:

Key concepts and practical steps in project design, monitoring and evaluation

Designing and planning strong development projects to achieve social change

Designing a monitoring and evaluation plan

Developing evaluative thinking

Using evidence for learning

Values and ethics in participatory and user focused development evaluation

PMEL in the context of COVID – ethical considerations and practical tips for remote working


The courses covers the Logical Framework Approach blended with Theory of Change to guide participants through the design process.


It balances the technical requirements for robust design, monitoring and evaluation, with the process considerations for building buy-in and support for monitoring and evaluation.  



Methodology

A highly engaging blend of face-to-face online learning and self-study, running over 6 weeks. There are core and voluntary components, we are mindful of your time, while we help you stay motivated and stimulated.

You will learn from us, from each other, and from practical application.

The course will be delivered remotely online via Zoom and Google Classroom. We will provide support for these platforms throughout the course. The sessions will be held in English.


Each Module runs over one week, and includes:  


Educator engagement:

Module launch via a video or live session, and includes one live session with an educator through a virtual participatory workshop. Educator sessions will be 2.5 hours in length, and will include time for participant engagement and discussion.


Educational resources:

Each module has planned activities, guidelines for practical exercises and learning resources including videos, reading materials, podcasts, discussion forum, fun activities etc. Recordings of key sessions will be shared.


Practical application:

Participants will take the concepts learnt in each module, and apply them via a group or individual activity to a case study of their choosing.


Assessment:

Throughout the course, the development of participants will be assessed through pre and post module quizzes. Participants will also be provided with opportunities to engage educators and provide feedback on their learning experience and outcomes.
