ABOUT

The Stellenbosch University Choir, under the leadership of André van der Merwe, is one of the oldest and most celebrated choirs in South Africa. Members are students from various academic and cultural backgrounds, famed for their intoxicating energy during performances. Since 2012, the SU Choir is ranked number one on the Interkultur World Ranking List of the top 1 000 choirs worldwide. Included in their tour repertoire are spirituals like the isiXhosa Easter hymn “Indodana”, evergreen South African hits like “Pata Pata” and “Weeping”, new arrangements of iconic songs by Lady Gaga (“Always Remember Us”) and U2 (“I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For”), and spirituals like “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands”, “Poor Wayfaring Stranger” and “Elijah!”.
