ABOUT
Hazendal Wine Estate’s premium Jazz Club is playing host to young Cape Town jazz sensation: The Unity Band.
Led by Lumanyano Mzi (drums and vocals), The Unity Band is comprised of Thandeka Dladla (vocals), Steve De Souza (bass), Lilavan Gangen (percussion), Dylan Fine (guitar), Lonwabo Mafani (piano/keyboard), Ofenste Moshoetsi (alto saxophone) and Marco Maritz (trumpet). This young and vibrant collective was formed at the UCT South African College of Music and plays an array of jazz, encompassing African jazz, fusion, pop, hip hop, modern and contemporary jazz as well as their own compositions. They are regulars on the local jazz scene with appearances at The Crypt Jazz Restaurant, The Great Wizoo, Casa Labia Cultural Centre and The Native Yards. The band has just finished recording a debut album which will be launched at the end of 2019.
