Pyschosocial Ethics in Adoption & Alternative Care - Arise Online Training

Wed Sep 20, 09:30 - Wed Sep 20, 13:30

Event is online

ABOUT

Adoption, foster care and safety care all involve some form of trauma. Therefore as social workers and professionals working in this space our decision-making is at the heart of alternative care - whether permanent or temporary - and needs to be subject to ethical scrutiny from within the profession and from without. The importance of ethics in alternative care needs to be interogated from a psychosocial perspective as many of our children who end up in alternative care from families who are predominately from marginalised communities or those who are disadvantaged - poverty, social trauma, mental health difficulties and so much more. This is of deep concern as we also look at what support is there for these families and how we protect their rights as well.

This workshop explores 4 key ethical issues when it comes to adoption and alternative care - competency, honesty, accountability and social justice

This event is aimed at professionals, but open to all. CPD points have been applied for SACSP.
