ABOUT
The Songo.info Champions Race is a short-track mountain bike race held on Wednesday, 13 March in the afternoon. This timing allows the world’s top professional riders a chance to stretch their legs (and measure the competition!) before the Absa Cape Epic Prologue start on Sunday, 17 March. At the same time riders showcase their speed and skill in some fun friendly racing, and give back to the community.
In 2024 we are introducing an E-Bike race to the racing programme. Unlike the elite men’s and women’s races, which are by invitation only, the E-Bike race gives everyone a chance to compete in the the spectator-friendly and action-packed afternoon.
The E-bike race starts at 5pm. Registration and course practice is open from 4pm.
The urban short-track cross-country route takes riders through the streets of Kayamandi, a vibrant township on the outskirts of Stellenbosch and home of the Songo.info clubhouse. It includes a mix of the Songo.info BMX track, asphalt streets and dusty trails, as well as a fearsome climb from and precipitous drop down to the loop on the football field where the race starts and finishes.
Parking is available at the Kayamandi Sports Fields for a R20 donation.
