Who is Spinnekop?

I am an aspiring adventurer with a love for the outdoors, sailing and the Drakensburg. I completed the Comrades Marathon (2017) wearing a Spider-Man suit, where I represented Heart Kids South Africa. I also trained for more than a year in the superhero costume in morning rush hour traffic around the east of Pretoria, to create awareness around CHD (Congenital Heart Disease) and to raise money for little Elisa. The Spider-Man suit is a conversation starter and a metaphor for finding your power and knowing your responsibility. Anyone can make a difference.

After running the Comrades Marathon I wanted a more adventurous challenge. In August and September 2018 I ran 1572km from Pretoria to Lüderitz, Namibia in 43 days . I was accompanied by Normie Eckard an adventurous paraplegic who completed 7 extreme adventures in 7 days early in 2018. My mission was to create awareness, and to encourage people to register as organ & tissue donor. In July and August of 2019 I took on another adventure running from Lüderitz, Namibia to Cape Agulhas. The trip took 45 days to complete. I ran a total of 1200km, cycled 200km and hand-cycled 40km. Normie Eckard again accompanied me. Normie hand-cycled the entire distance. AJ vd Walt drove the support vehicle. The campaign created huge awareness around organ & tissue donation. The Spinnekop 2018 and 2019 project was officially endorsed by Organ Donor Foundation and the Centre for Tissue Engineering, and they actively promoted the campaign during August(organ donor awareness month).
