ABOUT

Every year home brewers from around South Africa battle it out to see who will be crowned the best home brewer in the country, and the battle ground is right here at the South African National Homebrew Champs.

The competition is hosted by two homebrew clubs; Worthog Brewers in the North and SouthYeasters in the South.

The competition is open to any brewer in South Africa as long as the beer they enter is brewed on a homebrew system and not in a commercial environment.

Any style of beer may be entered, but all beers are judged according to the 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines, and you will need to specify the category you are entering your beer into.

There are 2 preliminary rounds of judging, one in Johannesburg and one in Cape Town. The top 10 beers from each of these rounds then go forward to the final round of judging to see who will be awarded the title of South African National Homebrew Champion.

You can purchase as many entries as you like. Each entry requires you to submit 6 bottles which must be delivered to one of the venues for preliminary round judging. Delivery of the beers to the venue is the responsibility of the entrant. If you use a courier service, please ensure that your entry details are visible on the package.
