ABOUT

Vloeibare Moed is a theatre production inspired by the events that took place after the gruesome death of Uyinene Mrwetyana. The production tackles topics around gender-based violence, as the lives of four first-year university friends, Sherwyn, Randall, Dillon, and Dean are in turmoil after one of them is the main suspect following a crime committed on the university campus. The four friends are played by Lyle October, Joshua Vraagom, Marunzo Thomas and Jaydon Williams. Lyle October, who will be making his debut appearance, plays Sherwyn; an intelligent, introverted, and curious 18-year-old. Joshua Vraagom who has been featured in productions such as Noem my Skollie, Soldaat, and Nama Swaan plays the character of Dean, the party animal of the group. Dillon is played by Marunzo Thomas, who has been seen in productions such as Sara se Geheim, Troukoors, Projek Dina and Arendsvlei. Jaydon Williams, playing Randall, has also been seen on Arendsvlei as well as The Kingdom. This group of young, talented actors could not be more perfect to play this diverse and exciting cast. The script is written by Enrico Hartzenberg and SAFTA Award-winning, Abduragman Adams is the script mentor, while award-winning, Iman Isaacs will be directing the production. With the frightening statistics of gender-based violence in South Africa, the conversation needs to continue and our production is a way of doing exactly that. This is a story we need to tell and the message behind it is an urgent and relevant one.

Vloeibare Moed will be shown at Stellenbosch University from the 18th till the 19th of September. To stay updated, theatre goers can follow Hartzenberg Films’
