ABOUT

Lunchbox Theatre announce a brand-new show made possible by the assistance of National Lotteries Commission and Assitej SA!   ‘Dream’ will premiere at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown this year.  This fascinating story about a young boy’s journey as he deals with the loss of his sister.  The story is played out in a captivating way with intriguing characters.

Written by Amanda Valela, directed by the innovative theatre maker, Nhlanhla Den Mkhwanazi (of Man and Dog and Cry the Beloved Country fame) and featuring the accomplished Mncedisi Ncedani and talented Stuart Palmer, “Dream” is a multi-layered theatrical experience.

Amanda was chosen to represent young, black, female South African directors at ASSITEJ SA's Ideas to Action Program in 2014.  She co-directed iLifa, a show about children’s rights, which premiered at the HIFA Festival.  Her ongoing success has taken her to Sweden, Zimbabwe and Austria.

As a world traveller, Nhlanhla says that South African theatre is bringing us back together through untold and unwritten stories. “I am married to theatre.”  Says Nhlanhla. “It is a lifetime contract.”
