Schubert’s Mass in G major is perhaps Schubert’s most famous mass and very easy on the ear. It’s not a long work, about 25 minutes, so we thought it well to include some of the opera and classical music’s most famous works in the second half. The Habanera and Toreador song from Carmen, Panis Angelicus, the Drinking song, and much more will be sung by the soloists and the two Uplands Prep Choirs, all with orchestra! Our local Sempre Vino choir (which so brilliantly performed the Messiah last year) will be the main chorus and the soloists will be American soprano Kirsten Hutchinson, mezzo Linette van der Merwe, tenor Chris Mostert and baritone Daniel Verster.
