ABOUT

Chamber music is a musical form written for a small group of instrumentalists, typically three to eight, with one performer playing a selected part that is presented in a small intimate setting without a conductor. While its origins as western art music reached its zenith in the early 1800s as music for the privileged, the musical form can be traced to ancient times enjoyed by all social strata. Intimate in nature and frequently played by amateur groups, chamber music is often described as “music amongst friends”, "rational people conversing”, as philosopher Goethe called it.

French cellist, David Pinoit, who recently relocated to Cape Town with his South African musician wife, is joined by two top young professional Cape Town performers to present you with graceful compositions by Rossini, Beethoven, Brahms and more. Enjoy our very popular Intimate Soiree setting for an evening of "music amongst friends"!
